Keep your car Tyre's Healthy

The health of your Tyre’s is one important factor that can keep you safe while driving! As per reports by Khaleej Times, nearly 5% of accidents happening in UAE are due to faulty tyres. You should always be careful about your Tyre’s as the weather in UAE is very hot. Follow these 10 steps to ensure your car Tyre’s are kept in pristine condition.

Load

Please make sure that correct Tyre pressure is maintained to ensure an appropriate load on your car as overloading can cause instability of the vehicle.

Age of Tyre’s

Check the age of the tyre by the 4 digit code stamped on the outside wall that shows the date of manufacture & change tyres every 5 years.

Wear & Tear

The extreme heat in the UAE is not good for Tyre’s. Hence it is vital to test the state of all four Tyre’s regularly. When testing check for cracks, tears, and rips as well as Tyre tread. 1.6mm is the minimum legal tread.

Tyre Alignment

The balancing of your Tyre’s is affected when you run over a bump or hit a curb. It can sometimes cause a shake of the steering wheel or the car moving to either the right or left while driving. This can lead to wearing out the tyre. Let specialists check out your Tyre’s and align them to ensure even wear and tear.

Wheel Balancing

Prevent shaking motion when driving by ensuring Tyre’s are balanced.

Replace it every 5 Years

Every 5 years, Car Tyre’s should be replaced. It should also be compulsorily done when the tread is 1.6mm at any point. You can measure this by seeing if a dirham coin fits in the tread. Consider changing the Tyre’s if the coin doesn’t fit.

Pressure of your Tyre’s

The pressure of your Tyre’s should be checked at least once a month. The Tyre’s should be checked when they are cold as you can get the most precise reading then. The recommended Tyre pressure for each vehicle can be found on the door at the driver side.

Is your Tyre Flat ?

If it is covered with your insurance provider, call for roadside assistance in case you get a flat Tyre. If not immediately take it to a trustworthy garage to repair the Tyre or purchase a new one.

Rotate the Tyre’s

Rotating the Tyre’s: front to back and vice versa which can be done on completion of 5000 km will improve Tyre health as some car manufacturers recommend. Doing this can help keep the wear and tear of your Tyre’s less.

Suspension

Check out the suspension, worn shock absorbers can cause abnormal Tyre wear.
